Tēnā koutou e te whānau ō Hato Penetika,
Term Two Highlights
College Visits and Experience Days
This term, our Year 8 tamariki had the opportunity to explore future educational pathways through visits from the College principals of St Mary’s and St Patrick’s and enjoyed experience days at these colleges. These opportunities provide valuable insights into what College life will be like. We appreciate the effort and time our Catholic Colleges put in to supporting the Year 9 transition.
School Open Day
We proudly hosted our School Open Day, welcoming prospective students and their families. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our vibrant community, excellent facilities and the diverse range of programs we offer.
Arts experiences
RNZ Ballet: a selection of tamariki experienced a master class from RNZ Ballet based around the Swan Lake season. Our dancers demonstrated elegance and artistic flair.
Strike: The dynamic percussion group, Strike, captivated everyone with their energetic and powerful performance. The usual teacher strike off was also a great hit.
The Reluctant Dragon: By NZ Playhouse "The Reluctant Dragon," was a huge success, with our tamariki being thoroughly entertained and delighted by the actors.
School Celebrations
Pink Shirt Day: We stood together against bullying by celebrating Pink Shirt Day, promoting kindness and inclusivity. As part of this celebration, we also launched the KiVa programme with a parent meeting.
Cultural Week: This week was filled with vibrant activities and events that celebrated the diverse cultures within our school community.
Pentecost Liturgy and Class Liturgies: Our spiritual life was enriched with a beautiful Pentecost liturgy and our regular class liturgies every Thursday.
Matariki Evening: We honoured the Māori New Year with a special Matariki evening, filled with cultural activities, reflections and a beautiful hāngi. Thank you to our HoK committee for supporting this wonderful community celebration.
St Benedict's Day: Today, we come together to celebrate St Benedict's Day, reflecting on our school's patron saint and his teachings.
